Movie Monday: The Upside of Negativity

We hear a lot about positivity in the workplace, but Barbara Ehrenreich does not view it as the unequivocal good it is so often made out to be. She argues that a certain level of negativity promotes realism and that a cult of positivity means that whistleblowers are looked down upon, even when bringing messages that portend real future disaster. What do you think – does positivity get in the way of realism? How can we have a workplace that is simultaneously open to dialogue and upbeat?
